Vortex Review

As you guys know my name is Mark Perini I am the model that plays Jackson on the cover of Vortex.  Julie asked me to do a review of Vortex on the day of it's released and I was so happy to oblige her request because that meant I was going to get an ARC copy of Vortex.

“Jackson Meyer has thrown himself into his role as an agent for Tempest, the shadowy division of the CIA that handles all time-travel-related threats. Despite his heartbreak at losing the love of his life, Jackson has proved himself to be an excellent agent. However, after an accidental run in with Holly—the girl he altered history to save—Jackson is once again reminded of what he's lost. And when Eyewall, an opposing division of the CIA, emerges, Jackson and his fellow agents not only find themselves under attack, but Jackson begins to discover that the world around him has changed and someone knows about his erased relationship with Holly, putting both their lives at risk all over again.”

What I enjoyed most about Vortex was how fast paced it is. The action starts immediately and I love that. So I literally read the entire book in no time; I just couldn't put it down. I should preface with the fact that I love anything spy related and I am a huge Sci-Fi fan. So I suppose I am a bit biased. Of course there is a ton of action (which I loved), however, there is so much more to love.
Through all the insane time jumps, crazy gunfights and complex secrets, this book is at its core about a guy who is trying to find his identity, whose trying to figure out what love is all about and trying to figure out what he’s meant to do with his life. And who doesn’t struggle with those questions at least once in their life? The reason I like Jackson so much as a character is the same reason that I love Batman and hate Superman. Because he is so relatable he has flaws, yeah he has awesome time traveling powers but he’s still a man he is still vulnerable.
For me another huge strength of this sequel was how well Julie gets in the minds of her teen characters. She understands what makes teens tick and what they have on their minds and it just feels really authentic.  As a reader you can totally get inside the psyche of each of these characters and understand what makes them tick. It really gets you committed to the story really quickly.
I was invested in Vortex from start till finish, from agent training all the way through the crazy time traveling universe all the way up to the gripping ending.  This book is really a one of a kind time traveling adventure and I recommend it to anyone that wants some more action in their life and who doesn’t?
Vortex is being released today in the U.S.!

So Whose excited about Vortex

    1. I actually held my breath the entire time I wrote the book, it's that intense. Good thing I write fast.

  2. Hahaha there must be some sort of record there either for the breath holding or for the sheer speed of writing a book...
